Supporting the National Trust

Interested in outings to historic houses and gardens, listening to experts talk about a wide range of topics and getting together with like-minded people near where you live?
We’re a friendly and welcoming group who organise a range of activities, from talks and social events, to outings, walks and holidays, as well as fundraising for National Trust properties.

Our annual programme includes

 Talks - September – June
 Regular Outings to National Trust properties, historic houses and museums and gardens etc.
 Regular Walks
 A Christmas and mid-summer lunch
 Occasional coach holidays
Members receive a quarterly newsletter, outlining activities in the up-coming months. We also have an e-mail alert service for those with e-mail addresses.

Talks
We have Talks each month except July and August.
They are held on the second Tuesday at 2.00pm. They take place at the Brookdale Club, Bridge Lane, Bramhall, Stockport SK7 3AB. There is a large car park at the back of the building. There are also bus stops adjacent at Bramhall Green.
We regularly have 60 – 90 members attending, so it is a good opportunity to make new friends, as well as hearing a diverse range of speakers. Non-members are welcome at our Talks.
Outings
We have regular Outings. This might be to a National Trust property, house or garden. We also visit historic towns, museums and exhibitions.

Outings are by coach, but we also offer some self-drive outings. Priority is given to members, but it is possible to bring your friends too.

Walks
We have regular Walks, on the third Saturday. These are 3 – 5 miles in length and often culminate in a pub lunch.
Holidays
We arrange an occasional holiday through McCarthy Coaches, a local tour operator. Holidays are taken in the UK and usually last between two and four nights. We look to visit areas where there are a variety of interesting places to visit.
We endeavour to secure as many single rooms as possible.

Lunches
These are social events on a self-drive basis. We always have a Christmas lunch at a local hotel.
Fund Raising
Each year we use our programme to raise money for the National Trust and usually give between £2000 and £4000 to support local properties such as Quarry Bank, Lyme, Hare Hill, Dunham Massey, Little Moreton Hall and Biddulph Grange. Occasionally we give donations to properties further afield.
