The Poynton 10K has become one of the village’s most recognisable sporting fixtures, drawing runners of all abilities to take on a scenic route that mixes road sections with stretches of trail. Set against Poynton’s natural surroundings, the event has grown steadily in popularity, offering a friendly and energetic atmosphere for both seasoned athletes and first-time 10K runners.
The course is known for its variety. It begins in the heart of the village before heading out towards open pathways, eventually looping back into Poynton for a lively finish on Park Lane. Many who take part talk about the challenge of the inclines, the satisfaction of the downhill sections, and the great support from marshals and spectators along the way.

For those interested in the 2026 Poynton Village 10K, the next race takes place on Sunday 23rd March 2026, starting at 9:30am. Race HQ is once again based at Poynton Civic Centre on Park Lane, where registration, toilets and car parking are located. Runners can check in from 8:00am, with the final call for the hall at 9:15am, and all entries must be made in advance as there are no on-the-day registrations.
This year’s race continues Crazy Legs Events’ environmental approach, offering an optional pre-ordered medal for those who want a keepsake while keeping overall waste to a minimum. The organisers are also seeking volunteer marshals, and anyone who can help will receive either a free transferable future entry or a charity donation made on their behalf.
The route for the 2026 event again takes runners from the village centre up towards the Middlewood Way, before returning via the Poynton Inclines and Poynton Park. A full course map is available through the event entry page, and entrants will receive their detailed race pack by email around one to two weeks before the day.
As always, competition prizes will be awarded across the main categories, including overall male and female placings, age-group awards from V40 upwards, and team trophies. All runners will collect their race number and chip timer on the morning of the event.
