East Cheshire National Trust Association next meeting 15th October
The East Cheshire National Trust Association has been providing a wide annual programme of events and holidays since 1986.…
Poynton Male Voice choir meets for rehearsal in Poynton Methodist Church every Monday at 7.30 pm. Several concerts are held during the year, often in conjunction with another local choir, & the December concert is for the purpose of raising funds for a local charity.
The choir is always ready to welcome new members, no audition needed, all music provided.
We aren’t the usual type of choir. We don’t have weekly rehearsals, hold auditions, wear dinner jackets or evening gowns or perform long pieces by famous composers.
West Gallery Music is church music, by local composers and choir masters in the 18th and 19th centuries. It was popular at the time and definitely isn’t stuffy: it’s refreshingly unpredictable, so Victorian clergy threw it out for being too lively, frivolous and even irreligious!
All voices are welcome. We sing in parts, so some ability to note read is an advantage, but all music is taught.
We meet to practise in Poynton, on the 3rd Sunday afternoon of each month, from 2.30 to 4.30, and currently pay £4 each per practice, including music.
Open to residents of Poynton as the local flower club has closed. We meet every 2nd Wednesday except August:7pm for 7.30pm. Usual format is to have a floral designer create at least six beautiful designs on stage. The raffle means there’s a chance to win/ take home one of the designs from the evening. There’s also hot drinks and time for a chat. Visitors always welcome! Find us on facebook.

My aim is to encourage the local community to run, for personal fitness and for entertainment/social elements. Having researched the local running offering, there seems to be a lack of clubs for fun – and most of all this would be entirely free!
Runs will take place on Tuesdays at 1900 and Sundays at 1000, starting from outside the Three Tunnes – please contact me for more details.
