The Rapid Relief Team (RRT), the charity made up of volunteers from the Plymouth Brethren Christian Church, have delivered 20 food boxes, equivalent to 240 meals, to Poynton Community Larder.
Poynton Community Larder is a local service that supports those who need additional help with their weekly shop. The not-for-profit provides food and hygiene products at a significantly reduced cost and has become an integral pillar for many individuals and families within the area over the years.
Aware that one in six households in the UK experience food insecurity and amidst the cost-of-living crisis continue to place added pressure on many, the RRT were delighted to support the Larder with a donation to help lift spirits and support others during the holiday and New Year period.
20 food boxes were donated by the RRT, which were curated with care and compassion by the charity’s local volunteers and contained a wide selection of non-perishable goods, such as pasta and rice and cereal bars.
Over many years the RRT have delivered vital support in East Cheshire and Manchester, with the charity and its team of local volunteers dedicating a huge amount of time to supporting charities, emergency services, and other organisations in the area.
In just the second half of 2025, 500 meals were served by the volunteers at Sedgley Park Police Station, running over three days in support of Greater Manchester Police and officers from across the country who came together following the synagogue attack.
Meanwhile, the team also cooked and served another 500 meals to members of the public during Wilmslow and Offerton Fire Station’s community open days.
