East Cheshire National Trust Association next meeting 13th October
The East Cheshire National Trust Association has been providing a wide annual programme of events and holidays since 1986. These events for around 200 members allow them to raise money to support the work of the National Trust at local properties including Lyme and Quarry Bank.
They run a full and varied annual programme of Outings, Talks, Walks, Holidays, and special events such as lunches for the benefit of around 200 members.
Talks are on a Tuesday once a month from September to June at 2.00pm at the Brookdale Club, Bridge Lane, Bramhall, Stockport, SK7 3AB.
The next meeting is the on Tuesday 13th October 2026 with a Talk by David Seddon called Escapism and Nonsense
Peter started work in the Path Lab in the 1970s. He retired, came back for 3 days and now still works 2 days a week in the Blood Transfusion Laboratory.
Peter’s talk is mainly about all the amusing things that have happened to him over the years. Nowadays none of these things would ever happen, but at the time about which Peter will talk there were none of the present health and safety regulations in place.
This is a light-hearted and humorous talk about a serious subject. Pathology laboratories play a crucial role in healthcare by providing essential diagnostic information for doctors. They also have an important role in preparing for blood transfusions. Peter’s talk will therefore be informative as well as humorous.

Poynton Probus next meeting 24th September
We are a club for retired and semi-retired men, holding meetings at St.George’s Church Hall on the second and fourth Thursdays of the month, when we listen to speakers on all sorts of topics. There is then a break after which items of interest to members are discussed. We have been running since the mid-1980s.
Our next meeting will be a talk called The Kennedy Asasination-one of our Boys did it by Frank Vigon on Thursday 24th September 2026.
Members’ partners are invited to outings and walks plus two particular meetings a year. Members try to be mutually supportive.

We are introduced to the courageous Catherine, Pearl, Charlotte and Frances and follow their journey as they fight for justice after discovering that their work has poisoned them. How to Plan for the Future – Wednesday 7th October – 1pm – 3pm
You will look at formal and informal planning, covering information such as Lasting Power of Attorney, wills and funeral planning.

Macmillan coffee morning at Woodford Community Centre on 26th September
The fabulous annual Macmillan coffee morning at Woodford Community Centre will be on Saturday 26th September 2026 in the large hall from 10.00am until 1.00pm.
This is a lovely, warm and friendly event so go along and enjoy some good company, plenty of chats and lots of scrummy home-made goodies. All the time supporting a very good cause.
The Woodford Centre committee work very hard for this event, lots of baking gets done, bunting gets hung and the china mugs will be washed in readiness. All baking donations are much appreciated and gladly accepted.

Homebuyers offered chance to make a quick move to a new home in Poynton in September
EVENTS are being held near Stockport to help homeowners climb the housing ladder – with the chance to move in a matter of weeks.
Elan Homes is offering part exchange on selected new homes and is hosting events at Hazelfields in Poynton and St Marks Pavilion in Woodley over the weekends of September 5-6 and September 19-20 to guide buyers through the scheme.
There’s even the chance to move to an energy efficient new home before the colder, darker nights set in.
Elan regional sales and marketing director Marie Morris said: “Timing is everything when it comes to buying and selling property.
