Sophie Howarth, a Year 6 pupil at Vernon Primary School in Poynton, is one of 10 budding authors to reach the final in Silentnight’s prestigious Book at Bedtime Competition.
Did you know this area used to have over 100 pits?
Many visitors to the area, and even residents, do not realise that this used to be a major coal producer. The Anson Engine Museum in Poynton is actually housed on what was the old Anson Colliery.
