Poynton Relief Road – Notification of Chester Road overbridge piling works
By Editor Girl on Jan 08, 2021
Graham, the contractors for the Poynton relief Road are informing residents that they will be undertaking critical piling works to enable the construction of the new Chester Road overbridge wingwalls and abutments.
Important information about piling works
The piling construction activity involves installing 41 concrete piles, an operation that causes both noise
and vibration, which means some disturbance is unavoidable.
To minimise the effect of noise and vibration they have condensed the programme for these works and opted to install CFA piles. These piles are constructed using a specialised piling rig which rotates a hollow stem auger into the ground to the specified depth. Concrete is then pumped through the hollow stem to fill the cavity to create the foundation.
The piling operation will take place from Monday 18 January until Friday 29 January.
Please note the works are subject to weather conditions and any changes in Government COVID-19 restrictions.
COVID-19 Safe working practice.
Graham state the site will be rigorously adhere to social distancing regulations, and daily briefings are being conducted to reinforce safe working procedures for the welfare of our staff and members of the public.
