Poynton Neighbourhood Plan Referendum – 10th October

By Taken from the Poynton Update and News 12th September on Sep 19, 2019

The Referendum on the Neighbourhood Plan will take place on the 10th of October. A copy of the Notice of Referendum, Information Statement can be found

Poynton Neighbourhood Plan Referendum Information Statement

and on Poynton Town Council’s Website.

The question which will be asked in the Referendum is:

“Do you want Cheshire East Council to use the Neighbourhood Plan for Poynton to help
it decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area?”

Copies of the Neighbourhood Plan and associated documents can be viewed at Poynton
Library, The Civic Hall or online on the Poynton Town Council Website here or the Cheshire
East Website here.

The Independent Examiner’s report made recommendations to Cheshire East regarding the
Neighbourhood Plan.  The examiners report can be found at

https://www.cheshireeast.gov.uk/planning/neighbourhood-plans/neighbourhood-plans-n-z/poynton-neighbourhood-plan.aspx

and provides a detailed explanation of the amendments recommended by the examiner.

A person is entitled to vote in the Referendum if on 10th October 2019
• he or she is entitled to vote in a local government election in the Referendum area: and
• his or her qualifying address for the election is in the Referendum area. A person’s
qualifying address is, in relation to a person registered in the register of electors, the address
in respect of which he or she is entitled to be registered.

If over 50% of people responding to the Referendum vote in favour, then the Neighbourhood
Plan will form part of the planning process for residents and the Town Council to comment on
applications.

Poynton Town Council strongly recommend that all residents take part in the referendum.
