Several areas of Poynton have been given 'no cold calling' status over the past fews years. As this has proven to be extremely effective, the scheme has continued, with the Bird Estate becoming the most recent area to receive this status.
Cold calling can be annoying at the best of times, but the main aim of this preventative method is to ensure the elderley, the infirm, the vulnerable and everyone else in general is protected.
Residents of the Bird Estate have been given advice and guidance on how to deal with cold callers, along with a 'no cold calling' sticker to put in their front window or on their front door. It is hoped that this will enforce the 'no cold calling' status of the estate whilst also deterring potential burglars and other unwanted visitors.
Furthermore, residents have been advised to report any incidents of cold calling in the area.
