The children and staff at
Over the last few months, children from Reception up to Year 6 have been involved with developing an innovative outdoor project. The aim is to use teaching and learning and practical skills to increase children’s awareness of the need to reduce carbon emissions and climate change.
Vernon Primary decided that they wanted to develop outdoor areas of the school and use these to promote all aspects of learning based on an environmental and ecological theme. Children throughout the school were invited to design how they would want a new school garden to look and what kind of plants and vegetables they would like to grow.
The pupils played a very important role in demonstrating to ‘Go Green’ why
Having now received the cheque, the children are looking forward to getting the garden underway and to seeing the growing area transform.
