                      raises £1400 for

               Macmillan Cancer Support

Poynton Community Art Group held its first Art Exhibition on November 26th, as part of an annual fundraising event for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The Willows Suite was filled with colour from the 120 framed paintings displayed around the room, plus the hand-made cards, tombola, raffle, books and quality gift stalls.

Over 200 people visited the event, the tombola completely sold out, and £1400 was raised for Macmillan Cancer Support. The tearoom and door staff never had a quiet moment!!

Poynton Community Art Group sold 33 paintings and 147 hand-made cards. 16 members (half our membership) sold paintings and cards and many other members were just thrilled to see their paintings framed and displayed publicly for the first time.

Huge thanks are due to everyone who visited the exhibition, and to the group’s members and partners who worked unstintingly, both on the day, and in the preparation work. More thanks go to all the friends, relatives and neighbours who so generously donated cakes and raffle or tombola prizes. We couldn’t have done it without you!

Many thanks also to the Workmen’s Club for their extreme generosity in the use of the hall and provision of refreshments, the Community Centre for the loan of additional tables and mugs, and to Waitrose for sponsoring our purchase of display easels through their “green token” scheme during November.
